We love living on the East Coast, but it is definitely hard being so far away from our family. This week has been especially difficult and our hearts have been longing for home.
Last Saturday morning, our sweet little nephew Ethan passed away. He and his twin brother Andrew were born premature on March 25th. He taught us all about being strong and finding strength in a Greater Source. We never got to meet him, but love him just the same. Our hearts and thoughts and prayers are with Ryan's sister Emily and her husband Stephen. We love you!
We have faith in Jesus Christ and his ability to physically and spiritually heal us and overcome death. We know He lives. We love Him. It is times like this that help us reflect on the many blessings of His gift to us. We know that families can be together forever.
I can't get the link to work but here is their blog address. theholdensblog.blogspot.com
Emily has been growing out her hair to donate. Amid the tangles she was ready (and so was mom!). Locks of Love requires 10 inches, we had a solid 9! Then we found out that Pantene also has a program for cancer patients and they only require 8 inches!!!
We took her to Agnes to work her magic!
Emily has been thrilled with the new cut.
(Just wait until you are old enough to get it colored too! There's no place like the salon!)
The stitches (or stitching) we are talking about are from a good old American baseball!
Logan was playing catch with our favorite family friend (who will remain nameless!) when his teeth made contact with the ball instead of his mitt! We couldn't believe it when you could see the stitching from the baseball imprinted on the top lip of our little buddy!
I went to Utah for a quick weekend trip when my parents spoke in church after returning from their mission. Scott had a training in New York so we flew back together. Made for a fun and card filled flight home. (Not to rub it in but...I won!) We took a cab from JFK back to the city and then my family came in to see Scott and take me home. We had to introduce him to the Shake Shack! Delish!
Funny side note about Logan! All the kids needed to go to the bathroom, so we used this handy, elevator-looking, self-cleaning bathroom! You put in your quarter, the door opens and you have 15 minutes to take care of business. After you leave the door closes again and locks while it sprays down the entire bathroom for a little disinfecting action! I thought it was a good idea! A freshly cleansed toilet in NYC. You don't find that everyday! Well, Logan wasn't quite on the same page! Infact he was freaking out the entire time, afraid it was going to spray midstream...if you know what I mean! He couldn't get out of there fast enough! Glad to report he did recover from the trauma filled potty stop!
Unfortunately, Scott may not ever want to go back. The next morning he called and was very sick! He had severe abdominal pain and had been vomiting. He went to the ER and I drove into the city to meet him at the hospital. He had a kidney stone! Too bad the Shack burger had to make a second appearance. Hopefully he will want to eat one again...someday. It made for an entertaining morning at a NYC ER! We've got a few stories!
